HOW TO BUILD YOUR GLASS POOL FENCE

Plan, measure & record your pool fence requirements.

IMPORTANT

First check your local authority to find out the Pool Fence Regulations in your area. For Queensland you can use the following link www.poolfencing.qld.gov.au

Planning

• Decide what shape you want your fence to follow.
• This could be square to your boundary fence/house or pool. In some cases you may want to follow the shape of the pool.
• Try layouts that will best complement the pool and surroundings.
• In other cases the fence may simply be required to go from point to point.
• Decide what space you want between your pool's edge and the fence.

Measuring

From your sketch measure your first line and mark your start point and end point. (Hint: if you are measuring parallel to the pools edge measure out equal distances from the edge of the pool in 2 different positions,(usually 100 mm in from edge).Generally a chalk line is used to set out the job initially.Remember to mark the positions and then make sure that the tape measure lines up with these two marks.) Two people measuring makes it a lot easier. Complete the rest of the measurements and record them onto the sketch.

Try to fit standard glass panel lengths.

Post centres for standard glass panels are as follows-

• 975mm wide glass panel = 1000mm +-5mm post centres
• 1075mm wide glass panel = 1100mm +-5mm post centres 
• 1175mm wide glass panel = 1200mm +-5mm post centres 
• 1275mm wide glass panel = 1300mm +-5mm post centres 
• 1375mm wide glass panel = 1400mm +-5mm post centres 
• 1475mm wide glass panel = 1500mm +-5mm post centres 
• Gate panel (Round posts)  = 850mm post centres 
• Gate panel (Square posts) = 854mm post centres

If this is not possible, a request needs to be made for a special length of glass (see Special Requests on the Order Page). If a special glass length is required try to fit it at the end of the fence so as not to compromise the overall look of the fence.

Recording

Once all the measurements have been made it will be necessary to mark your preferred gate position. (Remember a pool gate must always open away from the pool and can open from left to right or right to left depending on your requirements and preferences.)
When considering the gate position the standard product lengths should also be taken into account. (See sketch 3 below)

 

 

On your sketch mark the gate or gates and record the type of posts and glass panels you require - for example one way, two way, corner or others.

Itemize your requirement before ordering. From your sketch re-check and decide what panel widths will best suit your layout. On your sketch check what posts you require and mark them on the sketch. With all your required items listed you are ready to order. (See sketch 4 above)

How to Order

The sequence for ordering is the same for all our products.

This example is for 8mm Semi Frameless pool fencing with Square aluminium posts 1355mm long (Core drilled).

• Glass thickness: 8mm
• Post shape: Square
• Installation type: Core drilled

Follow these instructions

• On the home page click on the Semi frameless picture or click the order shop button.
• This opens up the semi frameless order shop.
• Click on the tick that is relevant to your requirement.
• This opens up the page which has all the items listed for this type of fence and is listed as follows-

GLASS SELECTION PANEL

• In the glass selection panel select the size you need
• enter the quantity required in the quantity box
• Click on the ADD button. Repeat this for all your sizes and quantities.
• If any special glass sizes are required enter them into the Special Request window with the quantities

GATE SELECTION PANEL

• Scroll down to the gate selection panel
• enter the quantity required in the quantity box
• Click the ADD button.

GATE HARDWARE SELECTION PANEL

• Enter the quantity of latches you require (1 per gate) in the quantity box and Click the ADD button.

• Enter the quantity of hinge sets required (1 set per gate) in the quantity box and Click the ADD button.

POST SELECTION PANEL

• Click on the drop down button and select the type of post you need.
• Click on the TYPE OF MOUNTING button and select the type of mounting (this must be done)
• Tick the required features.
• Enter the quantity into the quantity box and Click on the ADD button

Repeat this for all of your post requirements.

How to order

• You can now click on any of the View Cart icons to see your order.
• This takes you to your actual order and you can recheck all the items and quantities.
• At this point the order can be changed by simply deleting or changing quantities and selecting
• UPDATE CART

You can now proceed with completing the order.
